Fort Hood Scholarship Fund

The Fort Hood Scholarship Fund plays a pivotal role in eliminating obstacles to achieving higher education and enhancing the overall well-being of military families. Through the provision of academic scholarships to both high school seniors and military spouses residing in the Fort Hood area, we actively strive to enhance educational opportunities and uplift the quality of life for these valued families.

2025 Quick Facts

Scholarship awards for academic institutions ranged from $1,000 to $5,000.

A total of 44 scholarships were awarded worth $83,500. 36 high school students received a total of $64,000 and 8 spouses received a total of $19,500.

The largest donations came from on-post organizations such as the The Great Place Thrift Shop and the The Great Place Spouses ’ Club. Military associations, local businesses, civic organizations, and individual donors have also been very generous with their support.

More than 95% of donations were applied to scholarship awards which means less than 5% of donations were used to run the scholarship fund.

2021 Scholarship Recipient

I am so thankful to have received a scholarship from the FHMFMSF. The generosity of the organization and its donors will have a lasting impact on my education. I am currently studying at the University of Texas at Austin to obtain a bachelor's degree in mathematics. The scholarship I received motivates me to work hard in my classes and strive to make an impact on the community around me. I want to make the FHMFMSF proud! I graduated from Texas A&M in 2017 with a degree in Environmental Geosciences, where I followed my father's footsteps and joined the Corps of Cadets. I was also a member of the Aggie Band. The Fort Hood Scholarship helped me achieve my education goals without student loan debt. I got married in February 2020 to my beautiful wife Meagan, and we are very grateful for the position we are in thanks to the series of events that kicked off with this scholarship. We've lived and worked in DFW for about five years, and hope to someday give back to the military community that has given so much opportunity to us.

I am sincerely honored to have been selected as an FHMFMSF scholarship recipient. Though this past year has been full of uncertainty and change, I am certain about this: receiving this scholarship has made me incredibly motivated and determined to finish my education. I hope that I can one day give back to my community, similarly to how this community in Fort Hood has given back to me. For the next three years, I will be pursuing a bachelor's degree in biological sciences to later continue my education at optometry school.
